On the 4th in his visit to the ‘Seonbi Culture Festival’ held in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk, candidate Lee stated, “Even though Gyeongbuk is my hometown, sometimes people glare at me. It’s understandable; they might dislike me. But why do they? Have I done something so wrong?” Lee is originally from Andong, Gyeongbuk.
“I’ve been accused of all sorts of things, but if there was really something wrong with me, would I have made it this far? They’ve thoroughly scrutinized me,” he said, emphasizing the need to tackle fake news, citing the misinformation and negative perceptions people have about him.
He also criticized the conservative sector, including the People Power Party, asking rhetorically, “Is it acceptable to destroy the nation or constitutional order for personal gain, or to maintain one’s honor and position? Then who will work for the people?”
Lee further argued, “Regions dominated by a single political party don’t see economic growth because there is no competition,” targeting the People Power Party, which has been strong in the TK region. He questioned their motivation to work for the people when all they have to do is align with influential figures within the party to secure nominations.
He concluded by urging turnout, stating, “Voting is a bullet. We need to act. Isn’t an inactive conscience said to be on the side of evil?”
