“‘I guess I should go to Starbucks this evening’… Up to 50% off on ‘this drink’ for a month”

“[Seoul Economy] Starbucks Korea announced on the 23rd that it will hold an ‘Evening Event’ offering up to 50% off for customers who order decaffeinated coffee or caffeine-free beverages after 5 PM daily until the 18th of next month. The discounted menu includes 11 types of decaffeinated coffee and 9 types of caffeine-free beverages, totaling 20 options.

During the event period, a 30% discount will be applied to eligible drinks when ordered in-store, through Siren Order, or delivery (Delivers) after 5 PM daily. If the discounted drink is purchased with a cake, a 50% discount on the drink will be provided. However, drinks in the short size (237㎖) are excluded from the discount.

A Starbucks representative stated, ‘As the demand for decaffeinated and caffeine-free products is increasing, we plan to introduce more events so more customers can enjoy the menu.’

Last year, 32.7 million cups of decaffeinated drinks were sold at Starbucks, setting a record high. In the first quarter of this year, the sales of Starbucks decaffeinated beverages increased by about 31% compared to the same period last year.

The rising popularity of decaffeinated beverages is also reflected in import-export statistics. According to the Korea Customs Service’s import-export trade statistics, last year’s import volume of decaffeinated green coffee beans and roasted coffee was 7,023 tons, reflecting a 7.7% increase over the previous year.”
