The Democratic Party says, “Na Kyung-won, do not threaten us with the politics of fear using the oil drum.”

“Demonization of the Democratic Party is hard to endure”
“An insult to the residents of Dongjak-gu”

The Democratic Party directly criticized Representative Na Kyung-won of the People Power Party, who declared her candidacy for the presidency, saying, “Do not threaten with drum politics.” This was a rebuttal to Rep. Na’s statement targeting former leader Lee Jae-myung, saying “Many citizens are fearful of drum politics.”

Democratic Party spokesperson Park Kyung-mi released a written briefing on the 15th, stating, “The demonization of the Democratic Party has reached an unbearable level.”

Spokesperson Park criticized, “Rep. Na has initiated a fear campaign against the Democratic Party, saying she ‘would not surrender even if she had to enter a drum.’ It seems she wants to evoke memories of the anti-communist education of the 70s and 80s or George Orwell’s Animal Farm.”

Regarding Rep. Na’s claim, “Do not think by burying a person in a drum, the truth will also be buried,” Spokesperson Park countered, “It was coup leader Yoon Seok-yeol who attempted to collect opposition figures and handle them in an ingenious manner.”

Spokesperson Park also argued, “Rep. Na said she would ‘correct the abnormal society where one must risk their life to speak the truth.’ If so, instead of defending rebellion, she should have joined the citizens who rushed to the parliament in the dead of winter to block tanks to prevent unlawful and unconstitutional martial law.”

She continued, “Rep. Na posted a picture depicting public rental housing as a drum, ridiculing former leader Lee and belittling public housing residents. What do coup leader Yoon Seok-yeol and Rep. Na Kyung-won really think of the citizens?”

Spokesperson Park warned, “I remind Rep. Na that her reckless antics to grab public attention insult the people of Dongjak-gu who elected her.”

Earlier, Rep. Na released a photo on social media showing herself inside a drum holding a placard stating, ‘Even if it means entering a drum, I will not surrender.’

Appearing on YTN’s ‘News Square 10AM,’ Rep. Na explained, “To young people, former leader Lee is referred to as a drum. The drum signifies fear,” and “Many have made extreme choices in incidents related to the former leader, and this is the comparison.”
