Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital announced that it has established and started operating a Department of Critical Care Medicine this month to enhance its capability in treating severe patients.
The hospital formed the Department of Critical Care Medicine around a faculty with experience in critical care treatment from departments such as respiratory medicine, nephrology, and neurology.
It plans to expand its team by adding medical staff from surgery, cardiology, and other specialties, aiming to operate with more than 10 specialists.
Additionally, the hospital is running an Acute Care Clinical Nurse (ACCN) team focusing on managing ICU patients, like adjusting ventilators and assisting procedures, and a Critical Care Nephrology Support (CCNS) team providing continuous renal replacement therapy for kidney disease patients.
The hospital is committed to training specialists in critical care medicine and enhancing its research capabilities.
To achieve this, it will hold regular conferences and support research activities to improve the medical staff’s treatment skills.
Furthermore, it aims to improve the patient transfer system by strengthening ties with regional hospitals.
Director Hyungsoo Kim of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital stated, “Through the Department of Critical Care Medicine, we will enhance treatment capabilities for severe patients, whose importance is growing in an aging society, contributing to the improvement of medical quality.”
