The government has decided to increase the essential supplementary budget by 2 trillion won from the original announcement, bringing it to the 12 trillion won range. Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, announced this at an economic ministers’ meeting held at the government complex in Seoul this morning (15th). The government plans to focus this supplementary budget on three key areas: response to disasters and calamities, strengthening competitiveness in trade and AI, and supporting livelihoods. Deputy Prime Minister Choi emphasized, “Timing is critical for this supplementary budget” and requested bipartisan cooperation and processing from the National Assembly to ensure the budget passes as quickly as possible.
