In a recent survey on preferred future political leaders, former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung received the highest support with 37%. Conducted by Gallup Korea between April 8-10 with 1,005 participants nationwide aged 18 and older, the results showed former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo following with 9%. Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo had 5%, former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon had 4%, and others like presidential pre-candidate Lee Jun-seok, acting President and Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, and People Power Party member Ahn Cheol-soo each garnered 2%. Former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon and former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min each received 1%.
Compared to last week, Lee Jae-myung’s support increased by 3 percentage points, while Kim Moon-soo remained unchanged, and Hong Joon-pyo’s support increased by 1 percentage point. Lee Jun-seok also saw a 1 percentage point rise, and Han Deok-soo was newly included in the survey. Within the Democratic Party supporters, Lee Jae-myung had a preference rate of 81%, while among People Power Party supporters, Kim Moon-soo led with 27%, followed by Hong Joon-pyo and Han Dong-hoon each in the low 10% range, with 27% withholding opinion.
Regarding the priority for the next president, “economic recovery and revitalization” was the top response at 48%. Other priorities included “national unity and conflict resolution” (13%), “solving livelihood issues and ensuring stability” (9%), and “eradicating military regimes” (8%).
The survey was conducted through random sampling of mobile phone virtual numbers and interviews with telephone surveyors. The response rate was 14.9%, and the margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
