“KT, ‘Genie TV Originals’ Available on TVING and Netflix”…Distribution Strategy Revamp

(Seoul=News1) Reporter Kim Min-seok = KT (030200) announced on the 6th that it will revise its distribution strategy to expand the “Genie TV Original,” which has been exclusively released on the IPTV platform “Genie TV,” to various OTT platforms.

A KT representative stated, “We are launching a marketing campaign with the new slogan ‘Meet Anywhere’ and will enhance the competitiveness by increasing global accessibility to Genie TV Original content.”

KT is pursuing a revision of its distribution strategy in three directions: △Openness △Brand Value △Global Expansion.

Regarding the openness strategy, KT simultaneously released the Genie TV Original content “Riding Life” (starring Jeon Hye-jin and Jo Min-soo) on TVING and Genie TV free VOD last month. The drama “New Recruit 3” will also be shown simultaneously on TVING and Genie TV on the 7th of this month.

KT also plans to expand partnerships with overseas OTT platforms such as Netflix. Next month, the drama “Your Taste” (starring Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si) will be released on Netflix simultaneously.

In early next month, KT will open a Genie TV Original pop-up store in Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul, and release a YouTube film that embodies the new brand value.

This month, events will be held with actors from “New Recruit 3” such as baseball game events, long-term customer screenings, and collaboration with popular YouTube channels. “New Recruit 3” will premiere on the ENA channel on the 7th at 10 PM and will be available on Genie TV and TVING right after its broadcast (every Monday and Tuesday).

KT Media Strategy Division Senior Executive Shin Jong-soo stated, “We will cooperate with domestic and international OTTs to ensure ‘Made by KT’ content becomes a competitive brand in the global market” and “continue to present differentiated content.”
