Lee Jung-hyun, the former leader of the Saenuri Party, is entering the race for the People Power Party’s presidential candidate selection. In his declaration of candidacy, Lee announced that he would shorten his term to three years and push for a constitutional amendment in the form of a national constitution. He emphasized the need for change, stating that merely replacing 30-40% of members won’t suffice if the foundation is tainted and that the entire conservative platform needs to be revamped. Lee also argued that having a president from the Honam region itself would represent major change and insisted that regardless of who becomes the candidate, they must promise to position Honam as a partner in national growth.
