BYD unveils its second electric vehicle, the ‘Seal’, at the Seoul Mobility Show… Prices start at 47.5 million won.

BYD Korea unveiled its second electric vehicle for the Korean market, the BYD SEAL, at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, which opened on the 3rd, and announced the start of pre-orders.

The BYD SEAL, a mid-sized sedan, is the first mass-produced model in BYD’s electric vehicle lineup to feature the “Cell to Body (CTB)” technology. This innovative structure integrates the top cover of the battery pack with the car body floor, effectively dispersing impact and significantly enhancing crash safety. It also achieves an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.219Cd.

The vehicle uses an 82.56kWh BYD LFP Blade battery, allowing a maximum range of 520km on a single charge (based on WLTP standards) and supports DC fast charging up to 150kW, enabling a 20-80% charge in about 30 minutes.

The AWD model of the BYD SEAL, equipped with dual motors, includes the “Intelligent Torque Adaptive Control (iTAC)” system. The iTAC system minimizes wheel slip and understeer by employing various control methods like torque transfer and reverse torque output, and it optimizes driving performance by rapidly adjusting the torque output of the driving motors to maintain the best driving posture.

The powertrain consists of two motors with different outputs: 160kW at the front and 230kW at the rear, boasting a combined maximum output of 390kW (530PS). The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds in its AWD configuration.

The BYD SEAL is available in two trims based on motor type and drive system, RWD (rear-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive), with prices ranging from 47.5 million to 52.5 million KRW (post-environmental vehicle tax benefits, subsidies not included).

Cho In-cheol, the head of the passenger car division at BYD Korea, stated, “We are striving to offer the most reasonable prices for Korean customers,” adding that “The delivery timing and final vehicle prices will be confirmed after certification is completed and upon the conclusion of the EV subsidy evaluation and environmental vehicle regulatory listing.”
