[Sports Chosun’s Kim Sohee reports] Singer Kim Jaejoong is preparing a 60th wedding anniversary celebration for his parents.
On the April 4th episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘New Item Release Pyeonstorang’ (hereinafter ‘Pyeonstorang’), the second episode of the newly revamped partner special will be aired. Previously, it was revealed that Chinese cuisine goddess Park Eun-young and K-first daughter Nam Bora, as well as Chinese cuisine master Chef Lee Yeon-bok and first intern Pyeonschef Hong Ji-yoon, would partner to develop menus. Kim Jaejoong’s partner, known as ‘Napoli Mafia,’ Chef Kwon Seong-jun is set to appear, garnering much anticipation.
The VCR footage aired that day shows Kim Jaejoong preparing a celebration for his parents’ 60th wedding anniversary, with the entire family gathering for the event. Kim Jaejoong took charge of planning, directing, investing, and hosting the celebration, where his family’s sincerity and his devotion as the youngest of nine siblings shone. Additionally, he presented candidate menus that he developed for the menu competition to be evaluated by his family, taking advantage of the large family gathering.
The ‘Pyeonstorang’ menu competition is a special partner edition, where Pyeonschefs must prepare 30 servings of a menu for evaluation by 30 experts. The theme for the menu competition is ‘rice bowl.’ Despite the heavy pressure, Kim Jaejoong raised expectations by revealing, “My partner chef is the Napoli Mafia.” The ‘Napoli Mafia,’ the ‘taste gangster’ from Napoli, won the Netflix series ‘Black and White Chef’ and is known as a highly skilled competitor. The meeting of culinary genius Kim Jaejoong and Chef Kwon Seong-jun is a formidable combination.
Kim Jaejoong expressed his excitement by telling the Napoli Mafia, “It’s an honor,” and sought advice for developing the rice bowl menu that had been on his mind. The Napoli Mafia suggested, “Since we’re teaming up, how about adding an Italian cuisine touch?” and shared cheat codes for creating Italian flavors. Confidently stating, “The two of us teaming up could lead to victory,” he also encouraged Kim Jaejoong.
Formally focused on Korean cuisine, Kim Jaejoong, inspired by the Napoli Mafia’s advice, took on the challenge of creating a dish with an Italian flair, achieving a unique flavor. After tasting his creation, Kim Jaejoong revealed, “I made this for the first time and was surprised by the taste.”
What menu will ‘culinary genius’ Kim Jaejoong, who discovered Italian cuisine through the Napoli Mafia, present in the competition? KBS 2TV’s ‘New Item Release Pyeonstorang’ airs on Friday, April 4th, at 8:30 PM.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Kim Jaejoong was adopted at the age of 3 into a family with 8 older sisters, gaining significant attention. He gifted a mansion worth 6 billion KRW to the parents who raised him. The house includes a basement garage, a living room on the first floor, a large terrace on the second floor, and a guest room on the third floor, equipped with an elevator for his ailing parents.
