On the morning of the 27th, Representative Kim Jang-gyeom of the People Power Party took part in a solo protest in front of the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, urging for the dismissal of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol.

Representative Kim argued, “The impeachment of President Yoon is based on a siege mentality fueled by distortion and agitation by certain media,” and claimed, “During the trial process, it was confirmed that the memo by former National Intelligence Service’s first deputy director Hong Jang-won and the testimony of former Special Warfare Command Commander Gwak Jong-geun, which were touted as key evidence of treason, were tainted.”

He continued, “Some media reported that the military recently purchased 3,000 additional body bags in preparation for the December 3 martial law, but upon verification, the purchase of the body bags was pursued in 2022, and the additional purchase was made on December 11 last year, after the end of martial law,” criticizing it as a forced connection unrelated to martial law.

Rep. Kim insisted, “Because the fabricated facts for a treason siege cannot be substantiated, the opposition could not help but exclude the treason charge from the impeachment trial issues,” and added, “Most citizens already suspect this impeachment to be a manipulation through false agitation.”

He further stated, “If the Constitutional Court endorses the impeachment, the Korean state affairs will continue to be shaken and sink due to the fabrication, distortion, and agitation by certain media and specific factions,” and raised his voice, saying, “We must not allow forces that believe seizing power at any cost to gain influence.” He earnestly urged, “The Constitutional Court should dismiss the impeachment motion of President Yoon according to the law and principles, and fulfill its responsibility to restore democratic order and protect media fairness in South Korea.”
