[Sports Chosun reporter Jo Yoon-sun] Lymer was startled when he brought up a story involving his ex-wife Ahn Hyun-mo from a couple’s variety show.
On the 26th, a video titled “I Ate, Laughed, and Cried with My Father; Memories with Lymer” was uploaded on Lymer’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Lymer and his father reminisced while eating hangover soup at a soup restaurant they used to frequent.
Lymer mentioned, “It’s been 15 years working with my father, and he’s almost the oldest active executive in the entertainment industry,” adding that having an 80-year-old active executive in the entertainment company is truly a blessing.
He continued, “Many artists remain with the company thanks to my father’s advice. Beenzino and Hanhae have also mentioned that the stories and prayers he shares during tough times are a great source of strength.”
Lymer’s father remarked, “It’s something to be thankful for. I think friends would be envious in that regard.”
Lymer further explained, “Some people were skeptical of my father’s role at Brand New Music, questioning why he was there. But without him, there would be no Brand New Music today. He allowed me to focus on music and built the company’s system. Artists like San E, Swings, Verbal Jint, and Beenzino all trusted and relied on him, and having a figure like him in the company holds great symbolic significance for us.”
His father added, “To communicate with young people, I need to understand their mindset and concepts, so I listen to hip-hop and think about the meanings behind the lyrics.” He expressed his affection and provided advice for the 8-member boy group UNITE under Brand New Music, stressing that he listens to all the music from the company.
Later in the video, Lymer’s father showcased his seasoned broadcasting skills by saying, “We must have covered about 15-16 minutes of stories now.” Lymer responded with a laugh, “It’s because you’ve been on many shows with me. You’ve appeared on ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams’ and ‘Cha-Cha-Cha of Us’.”
However, Lymer then realized that both programs were ones he appeared on with his ex-wife Ahn Hyun-mo before their divorce and said, “I feel sorry to my father for bringing that up.” His father replied with an awkward smile, “Let’s not bring that up here today.”
