[OSEN=Kang Seo-jung] KBS’s national program ‘Korean Table’ is entering a new chapter.
Starting in January 2011, ‘Korean Table’ on KBS 1TV has depicted the lives and culture of Koreans at the dining table over the past 14 years and 3 months, traveling across every corner of the country. The icon of the show, Choi Bul-am, is concluding his long journey, and Choi Soo-jong will take over the baton.
‘Korean Table’ has served not just as a simple food program but as a ‘taste memory archive’ that records the culture, history, and stories of regional communities present in each meal, capturing nostalgia and longing. It has uncovered diverse foods by season and region, conveying the wisdom of life and warmth of family and neighbors encapsulated within them.
The warm table passed on by Choi Bul-am will now shine anew in the hands of Choi Soo-jong. This change is not merely an MC replacement but rather a process of inheriting the table’s legacy across generations, moving into the future while embracing the past.
The new guide for ‘Korean Table,’ Choi Soo-jong, will serve as a friendly companion and neighbor who sets the table with viewers, resonating with his image as the nation’s husband, son, brother, and older brother.
Choi Bul-am, who has remained a steadfast presence over the 14 years, shared a warm message for Choi Soo-jong, stating, “I wish to pass on the stories of the table I have been with for a long time to a reliable junior. I will always cheer for them to continue conveying our deep and profound flavors well. I sincerely hope it will continue to shine as a good program for a long time.”
The production team expressed gratitude, stating, “For the last 14 years, Choi Bul-am has traveled across the country every week, conveying the lives and culture embedded in Korean food. His dedication and passion will be deeply etched in all our hearts,” and added, “We ask for your support and anticipation for the journey ahead with new flavor guide Choi Soo-jong.”
The 700th episode of ‘Korean Table’ with the new presenter Choi Soo-jong will air on April 10 at 7:40 PM on KBS 1TV.
