“South Korea is just the same~” Yoo Seung-jun reminisces about his time at a school in Songpa-gu, which he attended before emigrating.

Korean singer Yoo Seung-jun (Steve Yoo) recalled his old memories from Korea. On the 18th, Yoo Seung-jun shared a video with the caption, “December 7, 1989. I was 13 years old (first year of middle school), attending Oju Middle School in Songpa-gu, the day before emigrating to the US.”

The video showed the school’s walls, playground, building, and front gate. Yoo Seung-jun, seeing the school unchanged after so many years, reminisced about his childhood, saying, “It’s just the same~.”

He specified that the video was not filmed directly by him in Korea, but was sent by a fan who recorded his old middle school before he moved to the US, for which he expressed his gratitude.

Yoo Seung-jun debuted in April 1997. In January 2002, he left Korea for a concert and subsequently acquired US citizenship, leading to the loss of his Korean nationality. As a result, the Ministry of Justice restricted his re-entry into Korea, and he has been unable to return since.

On Armed Forces Day last year, Yoo Seung-jun mentioned, “Someone asked me why I can’t forget Korea,” and questioned, “Would people misunderstand if I said it’s because I miss and love it?”
