Yoon Sang-hyun, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, was photographed with supporters in front of the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 12th, during a relay protest urging the dismissal of the impeachment against President Yoon Suk-yeol. (Seoul = News1) Senior Reporter Park Tae-hoon reports that Yoon Sang-hyun advised the Democratic Party to consider replacing Representative Lee Jae-myung and preparing to form a new leadership as a wise move.
Yoon, who is leading the opposition to President Yoon’s impeachment, stated on the 14th via social media that “yesterday, the Constitutional Court dismissed the impeachment requests for three prosecutors including Choi Jae-hae, the Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection, and Lee Chang-soo, the head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, marking the Democratic Party’s eighth consecutive defeat in the impeachment trials.”
He further criticized the Democratic Party leadership, stating, “In the sports world, this record would result in the replacement of a coach and coaching staff, or at the very least, an apology from the team. However, the Democratic Party leadership appears unaware of any sense of regret or shame.”
Yoon argued that “the Constitutional Court’s ruling exposed to the public that the Democratic Party’s series of 29 impeachments were a malicious ploy to paralyze the government, and more people are recognizing this fact.” He added, “The evidence showing that President Yoon’s impeachment is another instance of the Democratic Party’s ‘rebellion-fostering fraudulent impeachment’ is increasingly being revealed. The President’s decision to declare martial law on December 3 was a determined move to inform the public of the Democratic Party’s reckless actions and to prevent them, and this rationale is gaining more persuasive power.”
Thus, Yoon declared that the dismissal of President Yoon’s impeachment is approaching reality, rather than expectation, and urged the Democratic Party to abandon their hopes for an early presidential election, sincerely apologize for the string of impeachments and dismissals, and replace Representative Lee Jae-myung and the party leadership, demonstrating the responsibility of a major opposition party to the people.
