Ador, a label under HYBE, clarified on the 6th that their application for an ‘injunction to preserve the status of the agency and prohibit contracts such as advertising contracts’ regarding the NewJeans members “is not retaliatory.” This statement was in response to posts made by NewJeans’ parents on social media, criticizing the intent of Ador’s injunction application.
In their statement, Ador explained, “While legal proceedings are ongoing, NewJeans has expanded their activities by announcing new song releases and large overseas performances, thus we were compelled to expand the scope of the injunction application. This is not to restrict their activities but to encourage them to ‘proceed with Ador’ and ‘adhere to the contract’ while engaging in entertainment activities.”
They further stated, “As we have previously disclosed, we never pressured the concert organizers and the expansion of the application scope is not retaliatory at all. Tomorrow (the 7th), we will provide a clear explanation in court to clarify misunderstandings and seek a ruling that Ador is NewJeans’ legitimate agency.”
On the morning of the same day, a lengthy statement was posted on the Instagram account ‘NJZ PR’, operated by NewJeans’ parents. NJZ is the newly adopted team name as the NewJeans members pursue independent activities. NJZ’s side emphasized in the post, “We notified Ador of the termination of our exclusive contract as of November 29, 2024, as Ador failed to fulfill its contractual obligations, and thus the contract has ended.”
They continued, “Ador’s ultimate goal is to completely block NJZ’s activities. They applied for an injunction on January 6, and on February 11, expanded the injunction application to request the prohibition of not only advertising but also all music activities such as songwriting, composition, performance, singing, and all other ancillary activities.”
NJZ’s side expressed, “Various obstructive actions, including the injunction, aim to fundamentally halt our career as artists. We wish to inform that this is nothing more than unilateral harassment to stifle our legally terminated contract activities.”
Meanwhile, the hearing for the injunction application is scheduled for the morning of the 7th at the Seoul Central District Court.
