“Michelin 3-Star” Ahn Sung-jae Posts Job Openings… “I’ll Even Do the Dishes,” Plead Netizens

(Seoul=News1) Reporter So Bom-ee: Chef Ahn Sung-jae, who gained attention as a judge on Netflix’s ‘Black and White Chef,’ is drawing interest by posting a job announcement ahead of the reopening of ‘Mosoo Seoul.’

On the 23rd, Chef Ahn posted a hiring announcement for the fine dining restaurant ‘Mosoo Seoul’ on his SNS. He stated, “We are looking for all positions to join us as we start again in a new place,” and encouraged those interested to send a cover letter and resume via email.

The post surpassed 9,000 likes in a single day, and many comments followed. Netizens responded with witty remarks like “Applying for spoon and chopstick setting,” “Applying for dishwashing,” “Do you need a guard dog at the entrance?”, “Applying as a guest,” “Applying as a food waste disposer,” “Hoping to be a food taster,” and “Even want to sweep the floor.”

In 2015, Chef Ahn opened ‘Mosoo San Francisco’ in the U.S. and received a Michelin Guide 1-star within eight months. He returned to Korea in 2017 to open ‘Mosoo Seoul’ in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, with investment from CJ CheilJedang.

‘Mosoo Seoul’ received Michelin 1-star and 2-stars consecutively before becoming Korea’s only Michelin 3-star restaurant by 2023, with its lunch priced at 210,000 won and dinner at 370,000 won.

Early last year, Chef Ahn ended his partnership with CJ CheilJedang citing “different directional pursuits” and went on hiatus, leaving Korea without a Michelin 3-star restaurant.

In October of the previous year, a special course event featuring Chef Ahn and chefs from Mosoo was held at Banpo Sevit Island in Seoul, where people could taste the offerings for just 40,000 won. The event saw a rush of 400,000 reservations and sold out within 10 seconds.

Recently, Chef Ahn revealed the construction site for the reopening of ‘Mosoo Seoul’ through his newly launched YouTube channel. He shared, “I chose a quiet and secluded area where not many people walk around for the construction. We are working with a very capable architectural firm. It looks like it will turn out to be incredibly impressive.”
