A 30-year-old man who lived with his stepbrother and killed him, as well as a female employee at a local convenience store, with a weapon has stated that he committed the acts out of uncontrollable anger, it has been confirmed. On the 19th, the Siheung Police Station announced that they plan to transfer A (35) to the Ansan Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office on charges of murder.
A is accused of killing his stepbrother B with a weapon at their residence in Siheung on the afternoon of the 12th. He is also charged with injuring his mother while she tried to intervene. After completing the crime within about ten minutes, A then went to a nearby convenience store two minutes away on foot and repeatedly stabbed a 20-something female employee, C, causing her death.
C was transported to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but unfortunately passed away at 8:50 PM on the 13th, just a day after the incident. Upon receiving reports from witnesses, police arrested A at 7:55 PM on the same day as the incident while he was wandering the streets.
In police questioning, A admitted to the charges, saying, “I was so angry,” but added, “I don’t know why I was angry.” He stated he “doesn’t remember well” when asked about the specifics of the crime. Police investigations into the victim’s family and those around A showed no special conflicts between him and his stepbrother B. Furthermore, it was found that the convenience store he went to after the first crime was not a regular place he visited, and he did not know employee C.
The police suspect that A’s condition worsened after being diagnosed with a mental illness last April, with only a few days of hospitalization followed by discontinuation of medication after about a month of treatment. A police spokesperson stated, “A seems to have acted out of a sudden emotional outburst,” and “he claims he ‘doesn’t remember’ detailed aspects of the crime.”
