Former lawmaker Park Yong-jin is scheduled to meet with Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, on the 21st. The meeting will be a one-on-one lunch in Yeouido, Seoul, without any aides present, as announced by the Democratic Party on the 19th.
Park, identified as part of the ‘non-Lee Jae-myung faction’ within the party, acknowledged past rivalries within the party and in election contexts but expressed a desire to move beyond past conflicts when he appeared on ‘SBS Kim Tae-hyun’s Political Show’. He described the meeting as a step toward resolving those past issues.
A Democratic Party representative mentioned that this meeting with Park is a continuation of Lee’s efforts to engage with members of the so-called ‘non-Lee faction’, following his 90-minute chat with former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo at the National Assembly on the 13th. Lee also has upcoming meetings scheduled with former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum on the 24th and former Presidential Chief of Staff Lim Jong-seok on the 27th.
