(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Yul-lip = On the 10th, a supporter of President Yoon Suk-yeol, dressed in the Marvel character ‘Captain America,’ protested in front of the ‘2025 Second General Meeting’ held at the National Human Rights Commission in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The individual, dressed as ‘Captain America,’ identified as Mr. Ahn, attempted to break into the Chinese Embassy in Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, at 7:36 PM on the 14th and was arrested as a current offender on charges of attempted building intrusion. 2025.2.15 [email protected]

(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Yoon-joo = On the 17th, about 50 supporters of President Yoon Suk-yeol gathered at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) building in Jung-gu, Seoul, stating they would “block the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and the Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD).”

This was in anticipation of the submission of minority opinions by human rights committee members with opposition tendencies regarding the ‘President Yoon’s right to defense guarantee’ agenda, and amid concerns that KCTU and SADD might hold protests, the supporters asserted that they would protect the NHRC.

The supporters of President Yoon attempted to access the NHRC building’s 14th floor, where the permanent committee office is located, or other NHRC offices. The supporter previously arrested for attempting to enter the Chinese Embassy was also spotted.

Employees requested that they leave, saying, “There is no meeting today,” and “Decisions that have already been made cannot be overturned,” but the supporters did not comply.

On the 10th, the NHRC passed the ‘Recommendation for Measures to Overcome the National Crisis Caused by the Proclamation of Martial Law,’ which emphasized the need to follow strict legal procedures akin to criminal litigation in the President Yoon impeachment trial.

Some human rights committee members who opposed the agenda agreed to submit their dissenting opinions by noon. Once this process is completed, the NHRC will express recommendations or opinions.
