Apple releases event invitation creation app, strengthening paid subscriptions.

‘Apple Invite’ App Released on the 5th… Requires iCloud+ Subscription

Apple has launched a new iPhone app called “Apple Invite,” allowing users to create customized invitations to gather friends and family for any event.

Users can generate and easily share invitations using the Apple Invite app, which also allows for RSVP tracking, participation in shared albums, and checking Apple Music playlists. The app is available for download from the App Store or can be accessed on the web via iCloud starting today.

To create invitations using Apple Invite, users need to subscribe to iCloud+, a paid service starting at $0.99 per month. This move is seen as an effort to strengthen Apple’s paid subscription services. However, anyone can respond to invitations regardless of whether they own an Apple account or device.

When starting the Apple Invite app, users can select images from their photo library or the app’s background gallery, which offers a curated selection of images depicting various situations and event themes. Integration with maps and weather can inform guests about directions to the event location and the weather forecast for the day.

Attendees can easily upload photos and videos to a dedicated shared album for each invitation to preserve memories. If subscribed to Apple Music, it’s also possible to create event soundtracks accessible directly through Apple Invite via a collaborative playlist.

Apple Intelligence, an AI system, assists in creating unique and personalized invitations. Users can utilize the Image Playground feature to generate original images and employ writing tools to find appropriate phrases for their events.

Brent Chu Watson, Senior Director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apple Apps and iCloud, stated, “Thanks to Apple Invite, the moment an invitation is created, the event comes to life, and users can continue to share memories long after the gathering ends. Apple Invite makes it easier to plan a special event by bringing together features that users are already familiar with and fond of across iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music.”
