Yang Jeong-won cleared of fraud charges: “Not even booked as a suspect”

[Sports Today Reporter Yoon Hye-young] Actor and Pilates instructor Yang Jeong-won has been cleared of fraud charges.

On the 23rd, her agency, Wells Entertainment, announced through an official statement, “Yang Jeong-won has been cleared of charges related to a pilates company with which she had an advertising model contract, as the police have determined there was no wrongdoing.” They added, “The investigation results clearly confirmed that Yang Jeong-won had no connection to the issue.”

The police decided not to proceed with the case on December 28 of last year due to insufficient evidence. A related source explained, “Yang Jeong-won did not even have the ‘minimum suspicion’ related to the case, and thus was not booked as a suspect.”

This incident arose from a conflict in November of last year between a pilates franchise company, for which Yang Jeong-won was an advertising model, and some franchise owners. At the time, some media outlets reported as if Yang Jeong-won was involved in illegal activities. However, Yang Jeong-won expressed her injustice through social media and the press, actively clarifying the situation by releasing her advertising contract.

The agency stated, “There will be no leniency for malicious slander or the spread of false information,” showing a strong stance. They also added, “We hope this incident will serve as an opportunity to stop indiscriminate accusations and the spread of false information targeting celebrities.”

Finally, the agency expressed, “We sincerely thank those who have supported and cheered for Yang Jeong-won, and we will do our utmost to ensure she can continue her active career.”
