Singer Na Hoon-a, during his farewell performance, criticized the chaotic political scene in South Korea, prompting Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Won-i to react by saying, “What meddling… It’s absurd.”
On the night of the 11th, Kim posted on Facebook, “Na Hoon-a is such a funny fellow. After receiving so much love throughout his life, he should have kept his mouth shut if he lived blind to the world’s affairs. What is this meddling about?”
In response to Na Hoon-a’s remarks questioning whether the current actions serve the country and its people and stating that both the left and right sides have faults, Kim commented, “It’s truly absurd.”
Kim also expressed his frustration by saying, “I genuinely want to ask if Na is aware of why the current martial law and rebellion in South Korea are happening, because of whom, and how our citizens are working to restore normalcy.”
He added, “Mr. Na Hoon-a, just live the way you have been. Don’t let down the fans who have cherished you.”
As Na Hoon-a concluded his 58-year musical career, he openly criticized the tumultuous domestic political situation during his farewell performance at the KSPO Dome in Seoul Olympic Park. Known for frequently sharing his candid thoughts on politics and sensitive topics during performances, Na stated, “In South Korea, we wouldn’t be surprised if a bomb dropped on us. We see soldiers being taken away on TV, and one soldier even cried. Entrusting our lives to them seems absurd. Such broadcasts should not be aired live, as they only please Kim Jong-un in the North.”
He also criticized the sharp political divides, raising his arms and commenting that the left criticizes the right despite its own faults, pointing to his left arm and asking, “Have you done well?” He concluded by quoting his mother, who said that siblings should not fight for any reason, questioning if the current political conduct truly serves the nation.
