A goose down jacket product from the fashion brand Who.A.U has been found to contain 30% goose feathers and 70% duck feathers, contrary to its label claiming 80% goose down as the filling. E-Land World, the company behind Who.A.U, issued an apology and promised to prevent such occurrences. They confirmed the discrepancy during an inspection of the jacket (product number: WHJDE4V37U) on January 3. According to the Korea Consumer Agency, down products must contain at least 75% down.
E-Land World CEO Jo Dong-joo apologized, accepting responsibility for the product not meeting quality standards and announced plans to strengthen quality checks from raw materials to final product. Sales of the problematic jackets were halted, and all products in distribution are being recalled for disposal. Customers who purchased the affected jacket will receive a full refund and additional mileage credit on the official Who.A.U website.
This incident follows issues with fashion brands on the Musinsa platform, where discrepancies in padded jacket filling content were found. Intempomood, part of Musinsa, is refunding customers after false claims about jacket fillings were revealed. Another brand, Lafudge Store, indicated incorrect feather content in its Arctic hooded padding, leading to its exit from Musinsa and 29CM by April 1. Musinsa has responded by checking material claims on key winter items like jackets and coats and plans regular monitoring and enforcement of a three-strike policy. They are also conducting ‘blind tests’ on suspicious mixed-material claims, considering material costs in production.
