HMM has been selected as a family-friendly certified company by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

On the 19th, HMM announced that it received the certificate at the ‘2024 Family-Friendly Certification and Government Awards Ceremony’ held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the previous day.

The family-friendly certification is a government recognition awarded to companies and public institutions that exemplarily operate family-friendly systems, such as supporting childbirth and childcare, implementing flexible work systems, and fostering a family-friendly workplace culture. The selection process includes document screening, on-site examination, employee satisfaction surveys, and reviews by the Family-Friendly Certification Committee.

HMM has introduced various measures, including adjustable work hours, two-hour leave units, reduced working hours for pregnant employees and parents, and telecommuting options for pregnant staff. Additionally, employees can take up to an extra year of parental leave beyond the legal requirement to support childcare. The company also contracts with specialized firms to provide infant care services.

An HMM representative stated, “When employees can comfortably balance their family and work responsibilities, their job performance is likely to improve,” and added, “We will continually work on improving the corporate culture to support the growth of both individuals and the company.”
