Song Min-ho is embroiled in a ‘poor military service’ controversy, while leader Kang Seung-yoon is discharged today (19th) as an ‘outstanding soldier’.

Kang Seung-yoon from the group WINNER is set to be discharged from the military today (19th).

Kang Seung-yoon enlisted as an active-duty soldier in June 2023 and completes his military service today. He was the only member of WINNER to enlist as an active-duty soldier.

Notably, Kang achieved an award for being an excellent trainee, subsequently receiving excellence awards in a reading review and an essay contest, leading to his early promotion to corporal.

Additionally, Kang Seung-yoon demonstrated social responsibility by being the first among celebrities to donate 10 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association following last year’s heavy rain damages, showcasing his positive influence.

His military service stands in stark contrast to the recent controversies surrounding fellow member Song Min-ho, drawing even more attention.

Meanwhile, Song Min-ho faced allegations on the 17th regarding inadequate fulfillment of his duties. A media outlet claimed that Song, serving as a public service worker, did not attend his workplace consistently and manipulated his handwritten attendance records. YG Entertainment clarified that his sick leave was an extension of treatment he was receiving before his service, and other leaves were taken according to regulations. However, the Military Manpower Administration has started to investigate the facts, and complaints regarding violations of the military service law by Song Min-ho have been filed with the police.
