Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 13th that it is launching the ‘The New Mercedes-AMG G 63’, a high-performance facelift model of the SUV G-Class. The Mercedes-AMG G 63 was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018. The facelift model features a 48V mild hybrid system, a touchscreen display with MBUX augmented reality navigation, a refreshed off-road cockpit with a transparent hood, and a comfort package that includes keyless-go.
The New Mercedes-AMG G 63 is also available in a Manufaktur model. The selling price for the New Mercedes-AMG G 63 is 249 million won, and the Manufaktur model is 275 million won.
The exterior design retains the classic G-Class look while introducing a new AMG-specific grille with three vertical louvres in front of the air intake. It also comes standard with adaptive multibeam LED headlights that intelligently adjust to the road, using 84 individually controlled high-performance LEDs.
Additional features include an AMG fuel filler cap in silver chrome with black design elements, red brake calipers, and 21-inch AMG 5-twin spoke lightweight alloy wheels. The Manufaktur model includes black brake calipers and 22-inch AMG multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels.
The New G 63 offers the most diverse exterior color portfolio among Mercedes-Benz vehicles, with 39 different exterior paint options and up to 37 leather options for the interior, allowing customers to customize according to their preferences and personality.
The AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo gasoline engine in the New G 63 provides a maximum output of 585 horsepower and a maximum torque of 86.7 kgf·m, paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission. The newly applied 48V mild hybrid system with an integrated starter generator (ISG) offers an additional 20 horsepower and 200Nm of extra torque. The adaptive suspension reduces body movement depending on driving conditions, supporting comfortable on-road and dynamic off-road driving.
Additionally, AMG Dynamic Select allows customization of the engine, transmission, suspension, and steering response. It offers five on-road programs (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual) for a range of driving experiences from comfort to sportiness, and three off-road programs (Sand, Trail, Rock).
Inside, the vehicle is equipped with an AMG performance steering wheel made of Nappa leather. The AMG steering wheel buttons enable intuitive control of driving programs, including AMG-exclusive driving functions. A second-generation MBUX infotainment system features a 12.3-inch driver and media display with touch operation and MBUX augmented reality navigation.
New digital features include a transparent hood that provides a virtual view of the vehicle’s front underside, making it easier to detect obstacles during off-road driving. The off-road cockpit is redesigned, with three differential lock switches, and the display offers a data overview and driving support functions suitable for off-road driving.
Convenience features have also been enhanced. The comfort package provides keyless-go and wireless charging for front-seat mobile devices. It also includes a Burmester 3D surround sound system and Dolby Atmos audio system.
