“A condolence wreath at the office of Rep. Sung Il-jong, who did not participate in the vote on President Yoon’s impeachment.”

A line of condolence wreaths criticizing People Power Party lawmaker Seong Il-jong for not participating in the National Assembly vote on President Yoon Seok-yeol’s impeachment bill appeared in front of his office in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province. As of the 10th, wreaths were lined up on the sidewalk in front of Seong’s office, who serves as the chairman of the National Defense Committee and represents Seosan and Taean. Some residents have visited Seong’s social media to leave comments criticizing him and promising to send more condolence wreaths. Seong previously wrote on his social media, “As a first-term lawmaker in 2016, I have already experienced the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye and believe that such a historical tragedy must never be repeated.” He added, “Now is the time to minimize chaos and resolve the situation orderly. Impeaching the president and causing greater turmoil in the nation is never in the interest of the people.”
