Krafton to Host ‘PGC 2024’, the Top-Level International PUBG Competition

Krafton announced on the 6th that the top international esports tournament for PUBG: Battlegrounds, the PUBG Global Championship (PGC) 2024, will commence on the 9th. The PGC is the ultimate global competition where top-tier PUBG esports pro teams from around the world clash annually to crown the best team of the year. PGC 2024 will take place from November 9th to 22nd at the Tropicana Gardens Mall Convention Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The total prize pool starts at a base of 1.5 million dollars (approximately 2.1 billion KRW) and increases with an additional 25% from the sales proceeds of PGC 2024 commemorative items. The prize money is distributed based on the final rankings of the tournament. The winning team will receive a base prize of 500,000 dollars (approximately 700 million KRW), and the player selected as the tournament MVP will receive 10,000 dollars (approximately 14 million KRW).

A total of 16 teams will participate in PGC 2024, including the top 8 teams from the PUBG Global Series (PGS) points, 15 regional PGC points qualifying teams, and 1 host country invited team. From Korea, Kwangdong Freecs, T1, and Gen.G will participate as teams with top domestic PGC points.

PGC 2024 will introduce for the first time a circuit system that replaces the existing group stage. This aims to enhance the importance of each match and increase engagement among players and fans.

Circuit 1 will start with 16 teams, including 15 regional PGC points qualifying teams and 1 host country invited team. In Round 1, 12 teams will advance to Round 2 along with the 4 teams ranked 5th to 8th in PGS points based on the results of 6 daily matches. Round 2 will also consist of 6 daily matches, with the top 12 teams advancing to the Circuit 1 Final. These 12 teams will compete fiercely with the top 4 teams ranked 1st to 4th in PGS points in the Circuit 1 Final, finalizing the rankings of the 24 teams.

Circuits 2 and 3 will be conducted in the same manner. The order of participation in the circuits will be determined based on the ranks achieved in the preceding circuit, with the lower 16 teams participating in Round 1 and the top 8 teams participating sequentially in Round 2 and the Circuit Final. After the Circuit Stage, the top 16 teams with the highest cumulative scores from the three Circuit Finals will advance to the PGC 2024 Grand Final. The grand event, the Grand Final, will occur over three days from November 20th to 22nd, consisting of 18 matches (6 matches a day), with the team achieving the highest overall ranking becoming the champion of PGC 2024.

During the PGC 2024 Grand Final, there will be a fan zone at the venue where fans can enjoy various events and obtain limited edition goods and memorabilia. On the 21st and 22nd, fan meetings where attendees can meet players in person are also planned. Viewers can watch the matches through the official broadcast channels or participate in ways such as completing in-game missions to earn voting coupons for the “Predict the Winner” event.

Participants can also engage in the virtual simulation esports event, the “PUBG Fantasy League.” The PUBG Fantasy League involves creating virtual teams with actual tournament players and gaining points based on their real match performances. In addition, fans can join other events like the video production event using PGC 2024’s official soundtrack “Rule the Ground,” predict the final scores of expected winning teams, and participate in live broadcast drops and code input events to earn abundant rewards.

PGC 2024 will be broadcast starting at 8 PM KST on match days via the PUBG esports official YouTube channel, SOOP, Twitch, TikTok, and Naver esports channel. Matches will also be available on broadcast streams conducted by domestic and international PUBG partner streamers.
