A chewy rice cake with sweet filling, known as “kkul-tteok,” is favored by many. Recently, this “kkul-tteok” has been gaining popularity due to its unique recipes shared on overseas social media platforms. Concepts like “Kkul-tteok cereal” and “pouring milk over kkul-tteok” have emerged as new trends among international netizens.
These creative methods involve placing colorful kkul-tteok in a bowl and adding milk, or cutting the kkul-tteok into bite-sized pieces to allow the milk to soak in. As a variety of K-desserts gain prominence, the export value of rice-based processed foods, including rice cakes, has increased by more than 40% from January to October this year compared to the same period last year.
Domestic netizens are also amazed, wondering why they hadn’t thought of these methods before.
