Is it snowing again in Seoul right now?

[Weathercaster]

Yes, last night a heavy snowstorm turned Seoul into a winter wonderland.

The snow had paused for a bit but started again just a moment ago.

Up to 10 cm or more snow is expected by tomorrow, raising concerns about traffic safety.

Please allow extra time for your commute and maintain a safe distance between vehicles while driving carefully.

Snow clouds accompanied by cold air brought the first snow in various areas overnight.

In Seoul, it’s 9 days later than last year, and 6 days later than the average.

Since last night, about 20 cm of heavy snow has accumulated, mainly in the central-northern areas.

Currently, radar indicates rain or snow in various regions nationwide.

Notably, a heavy snow warning is in effect for Hongcheon and Pyeongchang in Gangwon, Yangpyeong in Gyeonggi, northeastern Seoul, and Jinan in North Jeolla.

A heavy snow advisory is in effect for other parts of central-northern regions, northern Chungcheong, eastern North Jeolla, and northeastern Gyeongbuk mountains.

These areas can expect intense snowfall of 1-3 cm per hour until the morning.

Until tomorrow, expect more than 30 cm in heavy snowfall areas in Gangwon mountains.

Gyeonggi Province could see more than 20 cm, while Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, and Jeju mountain areas might receive more than 15 cm.

Seoul is also anticipated to receive up to 10 cm of snow.

Both pedestrians and drivers should be cautious of icy roads to avoid accidents.

Overnight, temperatures have drastically dropped.

This morning, Seoul recorded -1.3 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest temperature of the fall.

Paju was at -3.5 degrees and Daejeon at 2 degrees, with temperatures dropping around 10 degrees from yesterday morning.

Even during the day, central regions won’t exceed 5 degrees and will remain cold throughout.

Be mindful of keeping warm before heading out.

Along with the snow, it’s very windy across the country today.

Especially along the coasts and in Jeju, where a strong wind advisory is issued, ensure to secure objects that might be blown away to prevent property damage or accidents.
