North Korean state media, KCNA, reported that Kim Jong Un, the chairman of the State Affairs Commission, reiterated his commitment to endlessly strengthening nuclear capabilities and focusing efforts on completing war preparations.
According to the report, Kim made these remarks in a speech on the second day of the 4th Meeting of Battalion Commanders and Political Instructors of the Korean People’s Army, held in Pyongyang on the 14th and 15th of last month.
Kim emphasized that the policy of strengthening nuclear capabilities has long been an irreversible path for North Korea. What’s left now, he stated, is to ensure the nuclear force is in a flawless operational state so it can fulfill its mission of war deterrence and other responsibilities at any given moment.
He also noted that the U.S.-led military alliances are expanding to a broad range, covering Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Kim argued that it would be unsurprising if military forces from the U.S. and its followers appear on the Korean Peninsula under the guise of a military alliance like NATO, instead of the United Nations, in case of emergency.
This marks the first time Kim has directly criticized the United States following the U.S. presidential election.
