**US Media: “Melania Likely Not to Accompany Trump to the White House Meeting with Biden”**
(Washington, Yonhap News) Correspondent Jo Jun-hyung = On the 11th, CNN and ABC News reported that Melania, the wife of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, is not expected to accompany her husband on his White House visit on the 13th (local time).
As a result, the traditional meeting between the current First Lady and the incoming First Lady, which usually occurs during the presidential transition, is unlikely to happen this time.
CNN, citing sources, reported that Jill Biden, the wife of President Joe Biden, invited Melania Trump to visit the White House, but Melania declined the invitation due to a previously scheduled engagement related to the recent publication of her memoir.
When Trump was first elected president in 2016, Melania did visit the White House for tea with then-First Lady Michelle Obama, upon her invitation.
However, in the 2020 presidential election, which Biden won, the customary meeting between the outgoing and incoming presidential couples did not take place since Trump, the then-president, did not concede the election results.
A source interviewed by CNN mentioned that it has not been conclusively decided whether Melania will accompany President-elect Trump to the White House on the 13th.
