Minjoo Party Plays ‘Kim Gun-hee Special Prosecutor Law’ Card… It’s Han Dong-hoon’s Turn to Respond

The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 11th that it would submit a revised version of the special prosecutor bill concerning Kim Geon-hee at the National Assembly session on the 14th. This revision includes provisions to limit the investigation scope and adopt a third-party recommendation method. Park Chan-dae, the party’s floor leader, urged Han Dong-hoon of the People Power Party to stop using clauses as an excuse and to propose a plan the public can accept, expressing willingness to discuss the matter seriously.

Park also criticized President Yoon’s opposition to the special prosecution and emphasized the value of keeping promises, referencing an earlier promise by Han to introduce a special prosecution bill related to military personnel. Furthermore, the Democratic Party aims to push for a special investigation into a military casualty incident alongside the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act.

Jeon Hyun-hee and Han Jun-ho, key members of the Democratic Party, criticized Han Dong-hoon’s alleged compliance with President Yoon’s actions and choices, equating his behavior to deceit. They conveyed that without accountability, the People Power Party and Han would face public judgment.

Democratic Party spokesperson Han Min-soo confirmed that the revised bill would focus specifically on allegations related to securities manipulation by Deutsche Motors and interference in candidate selection involving Kim Geon-hee. The revised submission will also accommodate third-party recommendations.
