Seobom Su: “The KTX Ulsan Station area is ready to be transformed into a front base for industrial innovation.”

“Welcome the official designation and approval of the Ulsan Urban Convergence Zone basic plan”, Seo Beom-soo, Secretary-General of the People Power Party (Ulsan Ulju County)

Seo Beom-soo, Secretary-General of the People Power Party (Ulsan Ulju County), expressed his welcome on the 7th to the news of the official designation and basic plan approval of the Ulsan Urban Convergence Zone.

The Urban Convergence Zone project aims to create attractive growth bases for youth and businesses by integrating jobs (industry), living (residential), and leisure (culture) in the city centers of large local cities.

In Ulsan, the KTX station area complex specialized district of 1.62 million square meters and the innovation district around Jung-gu’s Ulsan Technopark of 310,000 square meters were selected as leading projects in 2022.

The project gained momentum after the “Special Act on the Establishment and Promotion of Urban Convergence Zones” passed last year.

The newly approved basic plan for the Ulsan Urban Convergence Zone includes plans to develop core strategic industries such as mobility, secondary batteries, and hydrogen by utilizing the KTX Ulsan station area and Ulsan Technopark and to establish R&D centers, creating an “industrial innovation outpost.”

Seo stated, “I am delighted to present the Ulju County residents with a great gift” and pledged to ensure the success of the urban convergence zone by supporting laws for the relocation of businesses within the zone. “I will make every effort to ensure its success,” he added.

Previously, Seo had proposed the “Inheritance and Gift Tax Act,” “Tax Reduction and Exemption Control Act,” and “Local Tax Reduction and Exemption Control Act” to attract businesses by providing various tax benefits to relocate and start-up companies in the urban convergence zone, forming a supportive package of three laws for relocating enterprises.
