“The email written by A included a threatening message stating, ‘I have evidence of your crime, and you know well the implications,’ and ‘Contact immediately upon seeing this email.’ The email was attached with an image merging the faces of council members onto the bodies of a naked woman and a man lying down.”

“In response to Council Member Song’s inquiry about the intention, A sent a QR code that could be used to transfer cryptocurrency equivalent to approximately 60 to 70 million Korean won.”

“The council members who received the deepfake materials plan to file a formal complaint with the police and request an investigation.”

“Council Member Lee stated, ‘An individual presumed to be Chinese, referred to as A, sent these illegal synthetic materials, and we plan to request an investigation at the police station by tomorrow.'”
