Han Dong-hoon: “The Path We Must Take for Expansive Growth and Upward Trajectory”

(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporters Hong Ji-in and Kim Chi-yeon – The People Power Party announced on the 24th their intention to promote the ‘Ascending Economy 7 Bills,’ aimed at nurturing future industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as protecting the underprivileged.

Party leader Han Dong-hoon stated during the Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly, “We will actively pursue legislations that will lead Korea upwards,” and emphasized, “The People Power Party will ensure the passage of the ‘Ascending Economy 7 Bills’ in this session of the National Assembly.”

According to Han, the ‘Ascending Economy 7 Bills’ include establishing a committee to enhance the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry, advancing AI technology and norms, improving power infrastructure and systems, fostering K-nuclear power, abolishing the financial investment income tax, protecting labor underprivileged, and considering neglected regions.

Han criticized the Democratic Party’s economic policies, stating, “Their approach is like ‘let’s just settle with the existing pie,’ abandoning the upward trajectory. It’s akin to a company stopping sales and suggesting we split the assets and go our separate ways.”

He further emphasized, “We see welfare as extremely important; however, unlike the Democratic Party, we aim to enhance our economy to support these welfare initiatives.”

He concluded by reiterating the party’s stance, “To achieve growth that expands the pie and address disparities arising from this process, politics must play a role. We urge action on the path that will lead Korea upwards.”
