The tragic ‘Yeongwol Drunk Driving Accident that Struck a Family’… Jeonghyuk and Younghoon of THE BOYZ Were in Tears (Hanbuli)

[MyDaily = Reporter Lee Seung-gil] ‘Hanbuli’ highlighted the Yeongwol drunk driving wrong-way accident.

On the JTBC show ‘Han Moon-cheol’s Black Box Review’ that aired on the 22nd, a black box video was released showing a drunk driver driving in the wrong direction in a tunnel in Yeongwol, crashing into a van. The van contained a family of six who were heading to their grandmother’s house for the Chuseok holiday. In this accident, the family’s father, who was driving, passed away, and the other family members suffered serious and minor injuries. The perpetrator, identified as a Marine Corps non-commissioned officer, also died, and it was revealed that he had previous convictions for drunk driving, including a military court trial, shocking the studio.

The production team of ‘Hanbuli’ interviewed the deceased driver’s wife about that day. She explained that after checking the consciousness of her husband and other family members after the accident, they were transported to the hospital, where she learned of her husband’s death during treatment. She recalled her husband, saying, “His life was not so trivial that it should end due to drunk driving.” With the perpetrator deceased, there could be no punishment, and the perpetrator’s side has not reached out with any apology, prompting anger from the panelists. The tragic accident, which completely upended a family’s life, caused severe nightmares for the children who were in the vehicle, as they expressed wishes to hug their father. This caused Jung Hyuk and Younghoon of THE BOYZ to break down in tears.

Additionally, Lee Soo-geun visited Gangnam Station to mark the 100th episode and spent time talking with the show’s fans of all ages. Citizens mentioned memorable incidents such as Do-hyun’s suspected sudden acceleration accident in Gangneung, the City Hall Station disaster, bizarre animal accidents, and others involving school zones and scooters. Going out to the street for the first time, Lee Soo-geun expressed his determination, saying, “I will keep working hard until the day traffic accidents disappear.”

In addition, in celebration of the 100th episode, various guests who have graced ‘Hanbuli’ over time were featured. Notable appearances included Koyote’s Baekga, hailed as the best guest by lawyer Han Moon-cheol, empathy icon Jung Hyuk, THE BOYZ’s Younghoon, the show’s most frequent guest, along with Q and newly appearing observation entertainment goddess Song Hae-na, capturing viewers’ attention. That day’s broadcast recorded a 2.6% viewer rating among paid households nationwide and 2.4% in the metropolitan area, with a 0.7% rating among the male and female demographic aged 20-49, according to Nielsen Korea.
