The government strengthens ‘Halloween’ safety management… Makes all-out efforts to prepare for crowded gatherings.

As Halloween approaches on the 31st, the government is strengthening safety management to prepare for potential crowd-related accidents.

Today (the 22nd), Minister of the Interior and Safety, Lee Sang-min, reported on the “Safety Management Measures for Crowds during Halloween and Other Events” at a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.

The government plans to operate a special measures period for eight days from the 25th of this month until the 1st of next month, conducting focused inspections in 27 areas where large crowds gather, such as Itaewon and Hongdae in Seoul, Seomyeon in Busan, and Dongseong-ro in Daegu.

Particularly, in 12 areas where dense crowds are expected, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will dispatch field situation managers to directly manage the situation alongside local governments, the police, fire departments, and other related agencies.

Additionally, the government will support the preparation of a crisis management standard manual to help public facilities like theaters and large stores establish safety management systems for crowd accidents until January next year.
