External Economic Ministers’ Meeting
, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sang-mok stated at the External Economic Ministers’ Meeting held on the 17th at the Government Complex in Seoul, “With the U.S. presidential election 20 days away and the possibility of expanded conflicts in the Middle East, it is necessary to closely monitor upcoming changes in external conditions.” He emphasized, “At a time when uncertainties stemming from U.S. politics and concerns over technological sovereignty breaches are increasing, thorough preparation is required.” Regarding measures to counter technology leaks, Deputy Prime Minister Choi mentioned, “We will prevent illegal outflow of advanced technologies to enhance our companies’ global industrial competitiveness and strengthen technological leadership.” He added, “We will build a system to prevent technology leaks using patent big data and support vulnerable groups such as small and medium-sized enterprises to actively respond to technology theft.” As follow-up measures after diplomatic affairs, he said, “We will swiftly promote follow-up actions to transform the achievements of the visits to the Czech Republic, the Philippines, and Singapore into tangible changes in investment, exports, and job creation.”
