‘Lee Naeun says, “GuackTube,” will the second apology be useless too? Busan Talk Concert canceled’

[Exclusive] 'Controversy over Lee Naeun' GwakTube, Second Apology Is Useless... Busan Talk Concert Canceled

[OSEN=Ha Sujeong Reporter] GwakTube, a Busan travel YouTuber caught up in the ‘Lee Naeun controversy,’ had his Busan travel YouTuber talk concert canceled.

According to the Busan International Travel Fair on the 23rd, the ‘Travel YouTuber Talk Concert’ scheduled for 2 p.m. on the 28th has been canceled.

The organizers announced through their official website, “We regret to inform you that the ‘Talk Concert with Travel YouTubers’ scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. on September 28 has been canceled due to unavoidable circumstances.” They only notified of ‘unavoidable circumstances,’ without explaining further reasons.

This event cancellation appears to be related to the recent controversy surrounding GwakTube. He faced backlash for appearing to defend and praise Lee Naeun, a former member of April who is accused of bullying. This, along with the first whistleblower of ‘theft allegations’ in his school days issuing an apology letter, caused confusion.

Earlier on the 16th, GwakTube, a popular travel creator with over 2 million subscribers, sparked controversy with a video posted on his channel.

In the video documenting his trip to Italy with guest Lee Naeun, he mentioned, “I feel a bit sorry. I was sensitive about school violence when people started talking about it around me. They were talking about bullying, victims, perpetrators, etc. I was shocked when I saw an article about it. So I blocked you. I unblocked you because I saw it wasn’t true. You already knew, and I’ve never talked about it in front of you, but I had many things to be sorry for.”

GwakTube has received widespread support for confessing to being a victim of school violence through various entertainment programs. However, by featuring Lee Naeun, who has been embroiled in allegations of harassment and school violence, on his YouTube channel, he faced criticism for ‘image laundering.’

Amid the controversy, GwakTube apologized twice. He expressed, “I, like I have revealed in various media, still carry deep scars like stains as a victim of school violence. My hubris was thinking that I could understand this issue better than anyone else because I, too, have scars of my own.”

However, the aftermath continued. The Ministry of Education privatized a video promoting the prevention of school violence in which GwakTube appeared on the 17th. A netizen also raised a complaint requesting a reconsideration of GwakTube’s appearance at the ‘GwakTube Travel Talk Concert’ scheduled to be held in Busan on the 28th. Furthermore, he also missed the first recording of the MBN entertainment program ‘Jeon Hyeon-mu Plan 2’ on the 18th due to health issues.
