“\nIt has been revealed that there are over 80,000 young people who have been out of work for over 3 years and are just staying at home without receiving vocational education or preparing for employment. According to the microdata of the youth population supplementary survey by Statistics Korea, there were 238,000 young people who graduated from their final school but have not been employed for over 3 years as of last May.\n\nThis is the highest number in the past 3 years following the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\nAmong them, 82,000 young people responded that their main activity was just spending time at home or elsewhere.\n\nThis means that more than one out of every three long-term unemployed young people spent their time without engaging in vocational training, job exam preparation, job-seeking activities, etc.”
