The Democratic Party of Korea announced today (13th) that it will launch the ‘Prosecution Dictatorship Countermeasure Committee,’ a central response body for prosecution investigations, and will strongly handle investigations into Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, and former President Moon Jae-in.
Chairman Han Jun-ho held the first meeting of the Prosecution Dictatorship Countermeasure Committee at the National Assembly today (13th) and stated, “We will actively expose the prosecutorial malpractices, the greatest threat to democracy, and firmly confront relentless oppression from the opposition.”
Regarding the investigation into Lee Jae-myung, Chairman Han commented, “The prosecution’s attempt to kill the opposition leader is becoming more absurd day by day,” and criticized, “They are manipulating and consistently filing wrongful prosecutions against Lee Jae-myung by abusing their investigative and indictment rights.”
Furthermore, he criticized, “Even though they utilized vicious investigative tactics favored by specialized prosecutors for targeted investigations to prosecute, as the trial progresses, Lee’s innocence is becoming more apparent,” and stated, “It is becoming evident that the judicial risk was fabricated by the prosecution.”
He added, “We will thoroughly cleanse the authorities abusing their power and put an end to the era of prosecution dictatorship according to the will of the people.”
Kim Young-jin, a lawmaker who served as the head of the previous government’s political oppression countermeasure committee, also criticized, saying, “Politically oppressive and reckless investigations are being conducted against former President Moon and Lee, resembling past political oppressions fought against the military government to achieve democratization.”
Kim stated, “Just as we fought against the prosecution dictatorship of the Yoon Suk-yeol government to achieve democratization in the past, we will now confront the prosecution dictatorship of the current government.”
