Actress Gong Hyo-jin, who married singer Kevin Oh, is reported to own buildings in Seoul’s Mapo-gu Seogyo-dong and Jung-gu Sindang-dong worth a total of 18.5 billion won.
According to the real estate industry on the 30th, Gong Hyo-jin purchased a building in Seogyo-dong near the Hongdae club district in January 2016 for 4,085,000 won per 3.3sqm, totaling 6.3 billion won.
Including acquisition tax and other ancillary costs, the building is currently listed for sale at 15.5 billion won, which is expected to generate a profit of approximately 5.5 billion won over the 7 years since purchase.
After acquiring the building, which was previously used as a restaurant, Gong Hyo-jin demolished it and built a new building with 7 stories above ground and 3 stories below ground.
The building, located near the Hongdae club district and on the main street of Hongdae’s art street, houses cafes, studios, shops, and offices.
In addition to this building, Gong Hyo-jin also owns a luxury villa in Sindang-dong near the foot of Namsan for residential purposes. She purchased it in July 2016 for 1.26 billion won with a floor area of 147sqm.
Considering that a similar property is currently listed at 3 billion won, the value has increased by approximately 1.7 billion won since the time of purchase.
The villa is praised for its low transient population and strong privacy protection, which are considered its attractive features. Its popularity is also attributed to its accessibility, being within a 10-minute drive to Seoul city center and Gangnam. The Beotigogae Station of Line 6 is just a 5-minute walk away, surrounded by upscale homes and villas.
